What Parents Say
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What devices can I use?
A: SoroTouch is available on iOS and Android. Please download the app first to check compatibility with your device.
Q: Can I reschedule a class?
A: Yes. We offer flexible make-up classes when your child needs to miss their regular class.
Q: What age can children start?
A: The ideal starting age is 5–8 years old, but children can start earlier or later depending on their readiness. If your child can recognise numbers from 1–10 and understand the learning videos, they are welcome to try. Older children and adults can also join. Start with our 1-month free trial, and we’ll help determine the best starting level.
Q: Does my child need previous abacus experience?
A: Not at all. SoroTouch is designed for beginners, with videos and game-based activities that make learning easy and enjoyable. The app automatically tracks and analyses progress, so parents don’t need any abacus experience to support their child.
Q: Can experienced abacus students join?
A: Absolutely. Children with previous abacus experience or strong calculation skills are very welcome.
The app adapts to each child’s level, and advanced students may be able to skip ahead after an assessment.
SoroTouch is especially valuable for children who can calculate quickly with a physical abacus but struggle without one. By developing visual mental calculation, they learn to calculate quickly without an abacus — a skill they can use in school, tests and exams.
Q: How much practice is needed at home?
A: Each daily mission takes around 15 minutes. We encourage students to complete at least one mission a day, but families can set goals that suit their child. Parents don’t need to teach mental maths — encouragement and consistency are what matter most.
Q: What if my child struggles with maths?
A: SoroTouch can be a great option for children who find maths challenging. We especially recommend trying our 1-month free trial to see if it’s the right fit for your child. Through videos, games and interactive learning, children can enjoy practising while building mental maths skills and confidence at their own pace.
Meet Aya
Originally from Saitama, Japan, Aya has lived in Sydney since 2011. She graduated from American International University and Australian Business College. Aya is also a mother of two school-aged children and understands the importance of making learning both fun and effective. She discovered SoroTouch through her son, whose strong interest in maths led her to explore new ways of learning. Impressed by SoroTouch’s innovative approach to developing mental maths skills, Aya launched the SoroTouch Sydney franchise in 2022. In 2026, the school became Digital Abacus Online, expanding beyond Sydney to give more children around the world access to this unique learning method.
